Of all the yoga poses, hip openers and forward folds are our most effective tools for down-regulating the nervous system, lengthening over-compressed muscles around the spine, releasing emotional holding patterns, and invoking a general sense of peace and security in the present moment.
In this workshop, we will move through a therapeutic hip-focused posture sequence designed to highlight these benefits. Special attention and explanations will be given around the use of bandhas (energetic locks), control over the muscles in and around the pelvis, and complementary purification exercises and breath work.
Students with an intermediate to advanced asana practice will be provided the mechanics to access deeper postures safely, such as Leg Behind the Head variations. Workshop is open to all levels, and beginners are encouraged to attend!
