Back Bending Class

Vinyasa Class

JM Vinyasa is a challenging class with vinyasa and hatha sequences taught by senior Lighthouse teachers. This class blends many styles of yoga such as Ashtanga, Bikram, Iyengar, Forrest, and Dharma yoga. The practice aims to bridge gaps in yoga traditions, allowing practitioners to learn from all styles and not just one. Every class includes pranayama, standing postures, hip openers, backbends, forward bends, twists, and inversions. Most classes include chanting, Kriyas, or meditation.

Progressive

Progressive classes give students the opportunity to practice more challenging poses and further develop their strength and flexibility. While this class may seem difficult at first, we understand that the only way to grow is to try.

Back Bending Class

JM Backhanding (Progressive) is a challenging class with vinyasa and hatha sequences taught by senior Lighthouse teachers. This class will help students develop and maintain a back-bending practice that integrates strength, flexibility and breath. Sequencing will vary from week to week, and class may also include a range of progressive to advanced balancing postures, hip openers, forward folds, twists, and inversions. Pranayama, chanting, meditation, and kriyas will be integrated to varying degrees depending on the teacher.

Progressive
Progressive classes give students the opportunity to practice more challenging poses and further develop their strength and flexibility. While this class may seem difficult at first, we understand that the only way to grow is to try. Show up with an open mind and ready to work— progress is inevitable!

Candlelit Vinyasa + Visualization Meditation Journey: Discovering Balance + Clarity through the Libra Full Moon

Wednesday, March 20th

8:15 PM - 9:45 PM

Join Alessandra Calderín of Boneseed for an evening of connecting to the medicine of the Moon and Libra.

Full moons offer Full moons offer a chance to harness a renewed well of potential energy. We see more clearly by her light what we are working towards. As the Moon pulls and releases the tides, she moves the watery parts of us, too (figuratively with out emotions, literally with the 60% of our bodies that are water). On the night of the Full Moon in Libra, the scales of balance, we will honor the power of air, truth, and authenticity, opening the heart and throat chakra to honor clear connection between what we feel and how we honor and express ourselves.

Libra also rules the Justice card in the Tarot, a complex card that acts us to remove the connotation of good and bad and to simply see what is. Without explanation, story or excuse. What is true? Are we keeping our promises to ourselves and each other? Are we aligning the way we move and act in the world with our own internal compass? Are we seeing the world truthfully or are we getting lost in our own stories, perceptions, and projections?

We'll begin the evening with a mindful vinyasa practice designed to open the heart and throat and move into a simple ritual and meditative journey to visualize tools to discover disconnections between your internal experience and external expressions.

*If you are new to meditation, guided visualizations are a great place to start because you will be guided by voice and imagery instead of feeling the pressure to focus hard on the breath or "clearing the mind".

All of these programs have been free or donation based on all mats and props provided. FAQ:

1. HOW PROFICIENT IN YOGA DO I HAVE TO BE?

You have to have been in hot yoga before but have been practicing for at least 2 years. I few good questions to ask yourself:
Can i get through a 90 minute practice without sitting down? Can I stay focused and present during practice? Do i ever feel bored during yoga? Can I successfully balance in my one leg poses? Am i comfortable upside? Am i open to being uncomfortable?
Usually, your answers to these bring you a little clarity on if this TT is good for you.

OGHY305 is located in sunny South Miami, Florida! We're right across from Sunset Place, neighboring Coral Gables & Coconut Grove. Our address is 5820 Commerce Lane.

Yet you will be asked to dive into a daily pranayama and meditation practice. Everyone will teach by the end of the training. Be prepared to be lovingly pushed and to be welcomed into a family setting.

4. IS THERE FREE TIME?

9. I'M COMING FROM OUT OF TOWN WHERE SHOULD I STAY?
Welcome to Miami! There are many options in terms of lodging, contingent upon your preferences. We are huge fans of Airbnb and highly recommend utilizing Airbnb for the most cost-effective accommodation option. Another option is a nearby hotel and there are many. We recommend searching in the neighbordhood of South Miami, Coral Gables, Coconut Grove, or Dadeland.

10. WHAT'S THE BEST TRANSPORTATION OPTION?
If you're coming from out of town, we recommend renting a car, if it fits within your budget. It's always nice to be able to drive to get to and from the studio and perhaps explore Miami during down time. Another option is Uber, which is very convenient here and also very reasonably priced! A third option is the Metro. We are conveniently located a brief 3 minute walk from the South Miami metro station.

11. WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE TUITION?

Your training manuals, your apple cider vinegar shot classes, your classes.

Candlelit Vinyasa + Visualization Meditation Journey: Aquarian Water Medicine New Moon Ceremony

Sunday, Feb 3

5-7 PM

Join Alessandra Calderín of Boneseed for an evening of connecting to the medicine of the Moon and Aquarius.

New moons offer new beginnings.  As the Moon pulls and releases the tides, she moves the watery parts of us, too (figuratively without emotions, literally with the 60% of our bodies that are water). On the night of the New Moon in Aquarius, the water bearer, we will honor the power of water, our connection to the sacred liquid and the waters of our pelvis in the sacral chakra.

Aquarius also rules The Star card in the Tarot, a card of sweet healing after intense transformation. This is an opportunity to rest and recover on your path to superstardom. As you set your new year intentions and cut the dead weight out of your life, are you taking care of your sacred body first? As you take the lessons of Capricorn season, striving and working so hard for what you want, can you take a step back through the lens of Aquarius and reconnect to yourself and the collective? reconnect to a sense of joy?

We'll begin the evening with a mindful vinyasa practice designed to open the hips and heart and move into a simple ritual and meditative journey to visualize what you need to feel loved and at home in your body.

*If you are new to meditation, guided visualizations are a great place to start because you will be guided by voice and imagery instead of feeling the pressure to focus hard on the breath or "clearing the mind".

Of all the yoga poses, hip openers and forward folds are our most effective tools for down-regulating the nervous system, lengthening over-compressed muscles around the spine, releasing emotional holding patterns, and invoking a general sense of peace and security in the present moment.

In this workshop, we will move through a therapeutic hip-focused posture sequence designed to highlight these benefits. Special attention and explanations will be given around the use of bandhas (energetic locks), control over the muscles in and around the pelvis, and complementary purification exercises and breath work.

Students with an intermediate to advanced asana practice will be provided the mechanics to access deeper postures safely, such as Leg Behind the Head variations. Workshop is open to all levels, and beginners are encouraged to attend!

**Note: This class will sell out, advanced sign ups are encouraged.

LETTING GO TO GROW.jpg

with Sarah Macmillan

We live in a culture that teaches us to go outside of ourselves to look for answers and happiness. We are told who to be, what to believe in, and what to do. But the truth is, when we start to look within and connect to our bodies, the voice in our hearts starts to whisper our inner truth.

Breathwork healing cleanses your emotional body preparing you to enter a space of deep listening. The experience moves stuck energy and facilitates release of strong emotions like sadness and anger. You will leave feeling lighter, softer, and renewed, having cleared the cobwebs. You may even experience a feeling of being "high" on energy, light, and love.
